It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of David Anderton, a giant of Staffordshire chess. David held many positions within the Staffordshire Chess Association, including President and Captain of the County Open Team. He also served the ECF and it's predecessor, the BCF, over many years. David also won the British Senior Chess Championship on several occasions. David passed away peacefully yesterday morning. Our thoughts are with his widow, Doreen, and family.
