Draws for both Alex Richardson and Malcolm Armstrong in the 5th round of the Championship sends them both into the final day of the first week with 1.5 points from 5 matches. It was another disappointing day for Bill Armstrong in the Major Open, another defeat in the 5th round today leaving him on 1.5 points. Carl Gartside suffered a similar fate in the U180 Championship and finished in joint 34th place with 1.5 points. However, a draw in the final round of the 5-Day Open saw him finish in joint 8th position with 3 points from 2 wins, 2 draws and just 1 loss. A loss in round 6 by Jacob Boswell in the Under 13 Championship pushed him back into joint 10th place with one round remaining.
Saturday sees the 6th rounds of the Championship and Major Open and the 7th and final round of the Under 13 Championship. It also sees the start of the Senior Championship, with Colin Davison entering the fray. Roger Walker and Carl Gartside will also be playing in the Soanes U150 Weekender tournament. The Under 9 Championship is being played over Saturday and Sunday, with Thivyaa Rahulin from Cheddleton taking part. The Under 12 Championship starts on Sunday where Jacob Boswell will be playing.
