Always The Bridesmaid Never The Bride
For the second season in succession Fenton were beaten in the Final of the National Minor Club Championship. This time their conquerors were Louth from Lincolnshire, who emerged victorious by 3 - 1. Rob Taylor is probably still kicking himself as, playing on Board 1, he was the exchange and a pawn up after only 11 moves when his mobile phone rang, costing him the game and Fenton the match.
