Recently at Morecambe, Bill Armstrong, who has been a member of the Cheddleton & Leek Chess Club since 1979, won the 2013 British Championship for the Visually Impaired. His success comes 30 years after first winning the title in 1983. Bill is now aged 72 and has been an English International player for many years. He now gains the right to play as the UK representative in the World Individual event for the Visually Impaired, which will be held in Greece in 2014. This is one of the finest achievements of a long and glittering career for the retired teacher. I am sure that everybody connected with the NSDCA would like to congratulate Bill on this magnificent achievement and wish him every success in Greece.
