Embarassment For Alsager In South Cheshire Shield
Alsager, the founders, organisers and current holders of the South Cheshire Shield, suffered the embarassment of 2 defeats in their last 2 matches due to defaults. A default on Board 4 cost them their match against Kidsgrove by 2.5 - 1.5. They then suffered further red faces when they completely forgot they were due to play Holmes Chapel and subsequently lost 4-0 by default. Credit to Alan Thomason who told me to 'publish and be damned' rather than not mentioning it.
