It couldn't be closer at the top of the British Championship, with Michael Adams drawing with Nicholas Pert, and Nigel Short beating Peter Wells, in the 10th Round, to leave both Adams and Short on 8 points each with one round remaining.
David Anderton won his 6th Round game in the Senior Championship to put himself in a virtually unassailable position at the top with 5.5 points out of 6 and one round remaining.
In the U160 Championship, Jon and Sandra Blackburn both drew their 4th Round games to give them both 2 points out of a possible 4 to consolidate their position in the middle of the table.
